Jazz Double Up Vs. Portland: The Solutions Friday, The Rose Garden Saturday

It was more of the same on Wednesday when the Jazz played host to the New Orleans Hornets. The Jazz started slow in the 1st quarter, digging a 12 point hole. After going down 27-15 the Jazz called on 3rd year pro Derrick Favors. In just 23 minutes on the floor, Favors recorded 15 points on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting and snared 6 boards. Compare to Big Al who got his number, 22 points, but took 18 shots to get there and grabbed just 5 boards in 34 minutes.

The Jazz got the victory over the New Orleans Hornets (15-31) and now make ready for a back-to-back home/road weekend with the Portland Trailblazers. Here's Coach Tyrone Corbin on the back-to-back:

Portland (23-22) is playing well recently. They have won 3 out of 4 including W's over the Clippers and Indiana. January hasn't been kind to the Blazers like it has to the Jazz, however. Portland is just 8-8 in the month but only 2 of the 8 losses have been by more than 6 points.

Coach Corbin talked about the Blazers at Practice today (Thursday):

So what will the Jazz need to do to get W's this weekend over the divisional rival and get a little separation in the playoff race (Portland is only a game and a half behind the Jazz in the standings, 2 wins for the Jazz makes it 3 and a half)? Ty told explained some of the game plan to me:
