The BYU Basketball Cougars put their 6 game winning streak on the line tonight as they welcome the 13-4 St. Mary's Gaels to the Marriott Center. Both teams feature high power offenses that average over 79 points per contest, so there should be fireworks in the late game. ESPN-U will carry the game, but you'll have to stay up late if you want to see it live. The tip is scheduled for 9:00 PM MST.

St. Mary's recently suffered a close road lose to Gonzaga. The Gaels were within 1 point with 15 seconds to play in last week's WCC battle, but they didn't have quite enough to finish the comeback and fell to the Zags 83-78.

St. Mary's is led by senior guard Matthew Dellavedova. The 6'4" Australian averages 17.4 points and 6.4 assists per game. Cougar fans should expect to see #4 on the floor for most of the game. He averages just 3 minutes of rest this season as he's being counted on for 37 minutes per game. The Cougs will need solid perimeter defense to keep Dellavedova from raining down 3's. He's shooting 40% from downtown this season.

BYU isn't without their own star guard, however. 6'5" sophmore Tyler Haws is in the midst of putting together a 180 season. That is when you add field goal percentage, free throw percentage, and 3 point percentage. Hitting 180 is a mark of incredible efficiency. Haws is shooting 49% from the field, 92% from the charity stripe, and 42% fom behind the arc. Haws leads the Cougars in scoring, pouring in 21.3 PPG and the big guard rips down over 5 boards every game.

This one should be worth the price of admission just to see the two big guards doing battle. The other Key matchup on the floor will feature BYU senior big man Brandon Davies doing battle with a pair of Gael bigs that will be used to try to wear him down. St. Mary's will split minutes between Brad Waldow and Mitchell Young as they try to slow Davies down. Davies averages 18.4 PPG and 7.7 RPG. Getting Davies going early and keeping the 6'9" senior out of foul trouble will be key to a BYU win.
